About Peoria Heights
Peoria Heights’ real estate is located in Peoria County, Illinois and is a suburb of the city of Peoria. Peoria Heights is encompassed by the city of Peoria except for a part of the eastern boundary. This section is on Peoria Lake. The village is part of the Peoria, Illinois Metropolitan Statistical Area. Although Peoria Heights' homes for sale are in the midst of a metropolitan population of approximately 300,000, the village has a population of 6500. Residents may enjoy all the amenities offered by a big city and retain the advantage of a small community.
Peoria Heights’ most notable aspect is probably Grand View Drive. This is a residential street located on a bluff that overlooks the Illinois River. This area has many distinctive homes and residents enjoy a country club. Grand View Drive also has a park that includes a baseball diamond, a playground and picnic area. There are look-outs located along the road with breathtaking view of the river and Woodford and Tazewell Counties.
Besides Grand View Drive, Peoria Heights is also noted for the red water tower that allows a view of the area including Peoria, Woodford and Tazewell Counties. An elevator will take visitors to the top, which provides an excellent view of the area. The water tower forms the core of the Peoria Heights Tower Park. This is the heart of the community and was renovated in 2002. The nearby business area in downtown provides residents with upscale shops and restaurants.
Residents of Peoria Heights’ real estate are served by District 325 schools. There is another water tower on Toledo Avenue that is red, white and blue – the school district colors. Although the district is small, this allows students to participate in a variety of activities and remains large enough to prepare them for college entry.
